People of Note: Dr. Eric Topol
If personalized medicine had to choose a figurehead, Dr. Eric Topol would be a pretty good choice. Voted the #1 Most Influential Physician Executive in 2012, Dr. Topol is the director and founder of the Scripps Translational Science Institute and has been involved in the development of many major drugs, devices and genomic practices. He’s been involved in the publication of more than a thousand scientific papers and reports and holds many honors.
Genelex knows that although pharmacogenetics is an important part of personalized medicine, the field isn’t just prescribing the best drugs – it’s redefining how physicians obtain, coordinate, understand and use patient data across the entire lifetime of the patient. The Scripps Institute seeks to foster interdisciplinary research, train and teach young faculty and partners, and build the infrastructure necessary for personalized medicine.
